Langtang Helambu trekking is easy walking option nearby Kathmandu valley offers cultural experience with incredible mountain views. If you want to enjoy the fun of trekking but have less time, do not wish to travel too far from the Kathmandu valley then Helambu is the ideal one for you. Helambu lies in the north of Kathmandu inhabited by Sherpas and Tamang people. While trekking you will pass through the beautiful forests, snowy peaks, brilliant green valley is which make you feel as if you are in a paradise. Particularly, villages like Melamchi Gaon, Tarkeghyang and Sermathang are the large settlement of the trek and worth to explore.
We will encounter some superb rhododendron and bamboo forests, inhabited by an abundance of animal and bird life, including mountain deer, pandas, Langure monkeys and jungle goats. We will also pass by a series of majestic waterfalls flowing over house-sized boulders and be able to bath in soothing hot springs. At numerous points on the trek, we will be able to enjoy spectacular views of the snow covered white giant Langtang Lirung (7200m).
In the friendly Sherpa village of Kyanjing Gompa (3800m), we will experience the spiritual lifestyle of the dedicated Buddhist monks who worship in a beautiful Monastery dating back to the 1300s. We will also have the opportunity to visit the traditional cheese factory, seeing how this delicious food is made by hand. A side-trek will also be taken to the magnificent glacial moraine (4300m), which we will be able to climb. From Chadan Bari (2800m), we can enjoy magnificent views of the towering snow-covered Ganash Himal range (7600m) and Langtang #2 (7227m).
This is also one of the best places to spot one of the elusive Red Pandas that inhabit the Langtang region. In Gossainkund, we will rise early in the morning to watch the sunrise of the multitude of Gossainkund’s glistening Lakes, also a sacred pilgrimage site. We will also trek through some beautiful rice terraces and a number of splendid Buddhist monasteries around the delightful villages of Tarke Gyang and Sarmathang (2621m), before heading back to Kathmandu.
